As policymakers around the world grapple with questions about the future of AI, evidence and advice about its progress, use, and impact is vital. ai@cam's PolicyLab provides a forum for bringing together researchers and policymakers to generate high-quality insights to inform public and policy debates. Bridging research, policy, and practice, and drawing from the University's expertise across disciplines, it will convene expertise that helps build a well-founded public conversation about AI.

This policy brief addresses whether the UK’s current approach to AI sovereignty is able to deliver a future where the nation can influence the AI systems shaping its economy, security, and democracy.

In this report we examine the impacts GenAI may have on the creative sector’s workforce and productivity. By exploring the current copyright landscape in the UK and US as it relates to AI, we examine the challenges surrounding licensing agreements, performers’ rights, transparency provisions on AI systems, copyright in AI outputs, and false attribution.
